Barney’s has been on my list for a long time. My friend Erica told me to give a try. So I asked my new friend and fellow burger lover, Mike, to join me (he’ll be providing his response soon).

I didn’t realize that Barney’s is a place with tons of burger choices – they might have over 100 options with various toppings. When I’m reviewing a burger I always order a simple burger or the house burger. So I just ordered a simple classic burger: “flame broiled & served on a hamburger bun unless otherwise noted. our classic burgers are served with lettuce, red onion, tomato, pickle.” I thought that was a fair way to compare this burger with what I’ve had so far at other places.

As it turns out, this was a mistake. The burger foundation from which Barney’s builds its burgers is actually a bit boring. There wasn’t anything special about the meat, it was just a plain patty cooked the way I wanted it. Clearly you need to order a burger with toppings here. The burger I had is probably a 3 out of 4. Maybe I need to go back and try something more adventurous?

The fries were excellent. Between Mike, my husband and I we got the three most popular: regular, curly and sweet potato fries. I liked the curly fries the best because I am, after all, a sucker for crispy crunchy fries.
